Episode 93
Don't Look At Me, Look At Freddie!
Show broadcast on 28 November 2015
John and Elis both revealed the petty arguments they've had with their respective girlfriends this week, and in turn you provided stories of your squabbles (and washing up advice).
After Elis received further Welsh-based acclaim, we discovered a terrible press photo of him, whilst John set himself a personal task for next week.
All this plus Humble Brag Of The Week, Email Of The Species, and Winner Plays On - this week with "laughs and gaffs".
Podcast intro
The guys do a poor job of advertising their upcoming 'A Robins Amongst The Pigeons' live shows.
John's introduction of Elis
"To my left is officially Wales' 36th coolest man according to the Wales Online website. "
Conversations and riffs
Elis has been listed Wales' 36th coolest man according to the Wales Online website, but hates the picture of him they used (looking heavier with a high tiny mouth). Of course it is tweeted on the Radio X Twitter.
Last night, John had a bad gig and commiserated at home with his girlfriend, various drink concoctions and a Queen live videos but was upset that his girlfriend wanted to watch him watching Freddie: "Don't look at me, look at Freddie!"
Elis does an impression of Producer Dave in a sushi restaurant.
John: "For kids these days the adventure of a lifetime would probably be tweeting bullets to each other."
John's done research that shows the effects of egg-based food residue on washing up. And 'old air' trapped inside glasses. In fact, John decides he needs to write a laminated guide to himself.
After a long absence, David Mellor makes another appearance, this time rifling through the free CDs in the Classic FM office.
John is keeping it real with a .net website address.
Text-in topic
Listeners text and tweet during the show on this week's topic.
What petty things cause arguments in your relationships? Elis talks about having to pause a documentary about Stalin to answer his girlfriend's questions: "Oh Google it! Google gulags!"
Humblebrag
More examples of that scourge of social media, the humblebrag.
Elis is mentioned in the humblebrags after earlier complaining about how his photo has been published a lot in the press and online, and does a half-swear on air but just about manages to back out of it.
Winner Plays On
Elis and John face off in the weekly quiz on topics of their choice.
Van Morrison (John) v The Simpsons (Elis). John wins 2.5-1. Elis has a nightmare. He is annoyed at getting a particular question wrong: "Oh fff... fridge magnet... that says 'sad' on it."
