Episode 58
Lightweight Elis, A Venn Diagram and More 50ps Than You Can Possibly Imagine
Show broadcast on 21 March 2015
Well they came close, but the boys couldn't quite win at the Chortle Awards. Actually, that's not strictly true, as John will explain. Regardless, pints were drunk, rum was quaffed, and Elis was recorded inebriated in a taxi. Plus Elis and John have got a special Email of the Species for you, alongside more A Robins Amongst The Pigeons and of course Winner Plays On.
John's introduction of Elis
"To my right is the author of 'The Lightweight's Guide to Hangovers'. "
Conversations and riffs
It was the Chortle Awards this week and while the show unfortunately did not win in its category, Ol' Johnny Robins did win the Best Compère award and a great night was had by all. Particularly by Elis James who made the most of a rare night out since becoming a father and was a little worse-for-wear in the taxi ride home. Luckily, John recorded the conversation on his phone so that some of it could be broadcast on digital radio.
John has decided that if he a billion 50p pieces he would store them in an underground grain silo. This leads on to a great question: would you rather have £100,000 put into your bank account tax-free or £1 million in 50p pieces that you can only store and spend in that format?
The closest John ever got to the experience of being on drugs was when he got sunstroke while travelling in Sumatra and hallucinated.
