Episode 86

Tick Tock Robins

Show broadcast on 10 October 2015

An eventful show this week from Elis James and...erm...wait a minute...hang on...John Robins. The boys eventually got through Winner Plays On, Email Of The Species and Humble Brag Of The Week, but there was a bit of a hold-up first. Remember this week, the week that John "dropped an Elis".

Podcast intro

Elis is asked to riff while John retrieves an email, but all he manages is the word "riffing".

John's introduction of Elis

"(Elis' intro of John) To my left... well, it's an empty chair because John Robins has slept in. "

Conversations and riffs

This is the one where John, who can't stand tardiness, sleeps in and is late for the start of the show. In an ironic twist, listeners are encouraged to tweet John 'tick, tock, tick, tock' and Elis can't resist calling John 'scatty' throughout the show, a trait he hates (although it turns out John is a big fan of Scatman John). John joins the show from the train and reckons he still has time to get a baguette on the way in.

Producer Dave hands John a piece of paper to read out on air that sounds suspiciously anti-immigration.

What would Dave sound like if he were a fan of hip East London pop-up shops?

Text-in topic

Listeners text and tweet during the show on this week's topic.

What is the etiquette when turning up late for something?

Humblebrag

More examples of that scourge of social media, the humblebrag.

Sometimes you just have to wake up and accept that today is the day you make your West End debut. Compliments on your fashion style from the homeless person you gave a sandwich to.

Winner Plays On

Elis and John face off in the weekly quiz on topics of their choice.

The Welsh language (Elis) v Ayrton Senna (John). John wins 4-1.5.

Email of the Species

Listeners' emails into the show.

Several PCDs have contacted the show saying that they are incorporating John-isms and Elis-isms into their relationships with their partners, talking like John and Elis do with each other. John is worried, "What if they start to make love with each other in the same way that Elis and I do?"
