Show broadcast on 21 July 2018
GUYS! Get your Festival Shamewells & Festival Made Up Games in to Saturday@radiox.co.uk because next week, the vibe will be coming at you LIVE from Kendall Calling Festival! It was a cracking show today, a lot of which featured John wearing his swimming trunks and little else. There were Humblebrags, plenty of shame, a gig diary entry & a quallo made up game!
Podcast intro
John describes a MUG created by comedian Alex Horne: 'No More Women' - the first player starts by saying the name of a famous person then nominates something about them that must be avoided when the second player names a famous person, e.g. 'Margaret Thatcher - no more women'. The second player then nominates another thing about the person they named (e.g. 'no more politicians') that must be avoided. So the game continues, with the range of criteria from which a famous person can be chosen becoming narrower and narrower.
A tale of two estranged cousins reuniting over a mutual appreciation of the podcast.
John's introduction of Elis
"To my left, a man who plans to fight proposed hosepipe bans in Monmouthshire. He has no garden himself but harbours a distrust of showers and mixer taps so he uses a garden hose to wash, clean plates, fill kettles and pans, and for making squash, gravy and soups."
Conversations and riffs
John tries on his new swimming trunks in the studio. Elis tells him he is looking in great shape compared to three weeks ago when he looked like "shame wrapped in a hanky" or as John puts it "a boiling soup". John got Queer-Eyed this week when he visited a stylist ahead of his upcoming hosting of a digital game show on digital channel Dave, which also led to a pants-related anecdote. John live-commentates his first viewing of the second trailer for the forthcoming Queen biopic.
